Due to the popularity of the Rock Band video games, the Beatles are enjoying a remarkable resurgence; even though they haven’t recorded a single song in nearly forty years and half of them are deceased, they are attracting an entirely new generation with the music that spoke to my generation.
I personally was slightly too young to appreciate the Beatles at the time. By the time I was a teenager, they had all gone their separate ways. Paul was already with another band; John was successfully fighting extradition; George was having his own legal troubles; and Ringo was just having fun with his music. So, it wasn’t until a little later that I began to appreciate the genius that was the Beatles.
Recently, their entire collection was released in 2 box sets, encompassing all of their albums plus bonus material. The stereo box set contains 16 CDs including all 13 of their original albums, in stereo; remastered hits; and a DVD. There is also a box set of all the albums that were originally recorded in mono (it is an unfortunate indicator of my age that most people around today have no idea what that even means). Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road and Let It Be are not included, as they were originally recorded in stereo.
